Hello Kirsten,

The Christmas card I sent you was returned for at least the second year in a row, so I decided to google you and, guess what - to my surprise, I found you. I hope all is well with you. Feel free to e-mail me at the above address.

@Mina Baldwin : It seems that Jan Frans van den Hecke, director of the Gobelins Tapestry factory in Brussel, has made tapestry using some cartons of Rubens for some kings of France like Louis XIV and the Russian tsars. I'm interesting me for him and the painter Jan van den Hecke, because I have the same name, but I do not know if they are of my ancestry. I have no paint for them, only a middle class teacher!

Dear Mina,

I'd suggest contacting an expert from a major museum, auction house or university in your area for advice on authenticating the tapestry or soliciting the services of a professional appraiser. Perhaps a Rubens expert at the Ringling Museum could assist you.

I once had a friend whose grandmother had a tapestry hanging in her home...it was very large. I was told that the artist was Rubens...it looked very much the same style of painting as the above. How does one determine authenticity of such a piece?
Thank you.
