Another last minute OMNP preview courtesy of a more minor auction house. Collectors with shallow pockets might want to take notice of this sale-an array of quality prints and paintings are being offered with estimates under $2,000 USD. These lots, however all come with their own respective caveats ( ie: done by anonymous hand, or follower of.) A wide array of Goya’s famous Caprichios prints are being sold, sets are being estimated at under $2000, singular prints at a measly $1,000. The catch here of course, is that these are later editioned prints, done somewhere around 1900, which makes them much less valuable. In the arena of prints, however, it may make sense for a beginning collector to look into these lots. In OMNP’s opinion, the first copy of something is not necessarily that much more superior than a later version-what is most important is the crafsmenship (detailing, ink impressions) and condition of the print.
